Weekend Wrap Up: 6

It was kinda an off week for me.  I really, really did not want to get up and do 10 miles Saturday.  Friday my 11 year old decided he had pink eye.  He really didn’t, it was allergies, but he is the kind of kid that thinks he might die when he gets a paper cut.  I took him to the Dr. and the Dr. said the drops could help, but it really was just from a cold and/or allergies.  Then we had to cancel our fun Friday afternoon plans, becuase if he really did have pink eye I didn’t want to pass it on to my friend, her kids and her newborn baby.  Boo!  The best line of the day was when my boy said to me, “Mom, this is bad.  It’s just like having ebola.”

ugh.  right.???

Friday night some friends came over for a  church “meeting” after the kids went to bed and we ended up just eating and talking while celebrating my birthday. Cake and Cafe Rio. Yum! I was up way too late (for me).

My plan was to get up at 5am and run 10, so I could be done by 7am and hopefully showered and ready before the kids got up.  HA!  5 came and went.  I could not drag myself out of bed.  I must have slept funny, because my hip and leg hurt and I did not want to run.  I had a really bad attitude.  Finally around 7:30 I decided to get my butt out of bed and get going.  I could always shoot for 5 and call it good.

I got through 5 and decided to go for 8. Deep down I figured if I could run 8, I would go the extra 20 minute and run 10.  But I just had to get to 8 first.

I watched 2 and a quarter of some FNL (friday night lights).  I ran and ran and ran.  I finally finished with a decent time. 1:49.
10:55 average pace.

I finished the week out with 24 miles.
Monday I like to run 5.  I set out to run five.  It was a bad day.  I could barely make 3.
Tuesday I cross trained.
Wednesday night I ran 8.
Thursday morning I did 3
Friday I took off.
Sunday was my birthday!  Woo hoo!  My husband and I are kinda lame and usually just go out on a date or something.  We don’t spend too much on each other for our birthdays, but this year he totally surprised me!

He got me the Garmin Forerunner 10 watch that I’ve been wanting for so long!

I always take Sunday off from running.  It’s a great day of rest and day for family and church.  But I just couldn’t help it when I saw this watch!  At the end of our road is a cul de sac that they built when blocked the train tracks because of the  Front Runner Commuter train….I just had to try it so I did a quick little run to the train tracks and back just to see how it worked.

I am so excited for this!  Can I say that enough?  Really….I love Map My Run.  It’s free and it’s been a good motivation to me to log workouts, and see what others run and do as well as get comments and comment on others as well.  I love it socially.  And I found out that it syncs with my Garmin!  YAY!  I can still do both! I am really excited to see the new stats! Really – how many times can I saw how excited I am over this?

I am looking forward to this week. I am hoping to do some cross training and taking it a little easy.
I have a 5K race on Saturday. I have a time goal in mind.  I’m hoping for a PR.

Happy Monday!
