Weekend Wrap Up: 14

May 11, 2015

I hope you had a good Mother’s Day Weekend.  My favorite gift was this little necklace, inspired by my list of ideas.  (I didn’t even think my husband read this blog!). It’s an R for Reading and Running.  And has five little stones too…for the five littles (some who are not so little anymore).
(although when I mentioned the 5 stones for the 5 kids, my husband paused and said…”yeah…I didn’t think of that, but that would have been GOOD!”)

My other favorite gift, one he gets me every year, is the never-ending cup of Diet Coke.  It never runs dry, he is always refilling my cup, keeping the ice fresh and doesn’t make fun of me at all.  I know it will only last one day.  One day a year. Today we’ll be back to him telling me I drink too much of it, how bad it is, and him making fun of my crazy habit.
But for one day…one day, I get the best treatment.

In the past year I’ve decided that running with someone can make such a difference.  I love my weekend running buddies.  First my sister, and now two other fun girls from my neighborhood. We have a good time.  It’s so nice to have some encouragement and support.

This is our attempt to a fancy running picture. At mile 6.5.
I have no idea how those fancy blogger/instagrammers do it.

Four of us ran Saturday.  one 5.5, one 8, and then me and my friend finished off 11.  The longest I’ve gone since my half in January.  At mile 9 I thought I felt pretty good and we decided to go for it.  Then miles 10 and a half hit me hard and I kinda felt like I wanted to die! haha.  We had a pretty good average pace though, 10.17 minute miles.

(which by the way confuses me, my watch will tell me that pace, but then when I download it from my watch to map my run, map my run tells me a slower pace. What the heck is that about?!?)

Boy did I feel it that afternoon!  I’m beginning to get worried I can make the 13.1 during my two races this summer!

I guess it was a good thing that Saturday was a deary, rainy day, it was the perfect excuse to sit around and read a book.

I’m currently reading The House at Riverton by Kate Morton, and The Art of Work by Jeff Goins.

Weekly totals.  It’s the end of the school year so I was super busy with field trips and work all week so I could only run on Tues/Thurs/Sat.

8 on the treadmill both weekdays and 11 on Saturday.
27 miles total.
Not too bad.

What are you currently reading?
A friend told me that she heard on the Dave Ramsey show that millionaires read at least one non-fiction book a month.  Do you read non-fiction?

Do you have a running buddy? Do you take running pictures?  How in the world do people take good ones?
