Weekend Wrap Up: 16

I didn’t get much running done this weekend, but regardless, we still had a really nice great weekend.

This week my husband and I celebrate our 15 year wedding anniversary.  15 years is a long time!  Thanks to my sister and my sister-in-law who watched our kids, we got a night out Friday, without any kids.  It was relaxing and just what we needed.  The last time we went anywhere overnight without kids was 6 years ago!

Friday night the traffic was horrible.  Darn holiday weekend.  So we decided after all our hard work trying to decide a place to eat in SLC, to stay in Utah County.  We headed to The Blue Lemon.  I’ve been there before but Wade never had.  I totally went out of my comfort zone and did NOT order a sandwich and soup, but got the coconut curry chicken and my husband got the Blue Lemon Steak Griller. We also got half a side of the Spinach Artichoke Cheese dip for an appetizer.  They were all SO good.  I would get the chicken again sure.

Then we headed up to SLC.  We stayed at Anniversary Inn.  We have never stayed there before and really liked it.  Our room came with cheesecake and sparkling cider (we saved the cider to bring home and have with the kids on our actual anniversary).  It was a nice quiet weekend.  We watched The Book Thief, which we had never seen and I had always wanted too.  Maybe not the most romantic movie for an anniversary, but we both thought it was good.

Of course, I woke up super early, and my husband had a good laugh when he woke up and  found out I had been sitting around reading a book since 5 am.

Breakfast was delivered to our room and was SO yummy.  Then after we checked out we went car-window shopping.  We really need a new van.  I can dream.  And since we had no kids we thought we might as well look.  Since it took us over 3 months to decide what van to buy last time we bought one, I don’t think we will be buying one any time soon.
We stopped and had Greek for lunch really fast before picking up the kids.  My husband has been wanting to try this for so long, so I sacrificed and went for it.  He really loved his lamb.  He thought the place was great.  My only thought: the french fries were good.  haha.  My chicken gyros had so much sauce it was a disaster to eat.  I went through so many napkins and made a huge mess.  I told him it was a good thing this was our 15 year anniversary, not our 1st.  Because I probably wouldn’t have attempted to eat this messy sandwich back then.

Saturday night I attempted to run.  I thought I could at least get 8 miles in, but we ate so much food this weekend I gave up at 5 miles.

8 miles Tuesday
4 miles Thursday
5 miles Saturday
17 miles total this week.  not my best, but not my worst.

We have a busy week this week, it’s the last week of school!  I’m looking forward to some good runs too.  The weeks are counting down till summer and my races!

Last but not least, I have a winner for my giveaway:
