Julianne Donaldson

From the Publishers:
Philip Wyndham has never envied his older brother for being the heir to Edenbrooke. He would much rather carve out his own destiny than live under the constraints of that position. But when his older brother dies unexpectedly, Philip’s life is turned upside down as duty requires him to give up the life he planned. Philip takes on his new role as the most sought-after bachelor in London with alternating reluctance, boredom, and resentment. But all that changes the night fate leads him to an inn, where he meets the incomparable Marianne Daventry.

Review:
I was SO excited for this little novella kindle book to come out.  Seriously – I posted out it on Instagram a couple times and I just couldn’t wait.  Who doesn’t love Edenbrooke?  Probably only people who haven’t read it! haha.

The timing of this book was perfect.  It was released this week and I was at the hospital with my little son and really needed some good distraction – but at the same time I needed something I could pick up and put down and pick up and put down.  If all of that makes any sense.  This book was the perfect little escape that I needed that day.

I loved reading through Phillips point of view.  It was perfect and really set me up to read Edenbrooke again. (which I will be doing this weekend!)  There were parts where I laughed out loud and serious parts too – it was so well done.  My only problem was it was so short.  I loved how Donaldson explained on her facebook page that it should be read like a piece of Belgium chocolate - in tiny bits and savored.  If you don’t follow Julianne on facebook you should.  I really love the letter she wrote to her readers this week too  (you can read that here).

Basically – loved this little novella.  It was perfect and just what I needed this week.  I was able to escape after some pretty stressful days and really enjoy the Edenbrooke world.

If you haven’t read Edenbrooke – you should read this – and then read Edenbrooke.  If you have – read this – and then re-read!
You can read my post about when I attended book club with Julianne Donaldson and looked dumb (what is up with my posture???!!!) in a photo and became star struck and couldn’t think of anything intelligent to say either by clicking - here - in case you missed it.
