Make Over Your Mornings: Day 4

November 19, 2015

Today is day FOUR of the Make Over Your Morning class that I’ve been taking from Crystal Paine.  I have to say that I loved today’s video – but I really LOVED today’s chapter in the workbook.  Loved it.

But first, let me go back a step and tell you how I did with my goals that I set the first couple days of this class….

My goals from day two include getting ready the night before.  So last night I helped the little 3 pick out their outfits for today and lay them out.  My older boys don’t take a long time getting dressed so I don’t make them do this.  And really only my 6 year old girl needs helps with this, but if she does it her little brother and sister want to do it too.  So that got done.

I also looked up the school lunch menu and the kids all decided they wanted school lunch. So I made sure I had what I needed to get their lunches packed in the morning.  When my oldest was in 1st and 2nd grade and I had four littles at home and my husband was a resident my mornings were SO crazy.   I used to pack his lunch the night before.  Now I have to pack more lunches, but my husbands schedule is not near as crazy and he is able to help me in the mornings.  Another thing that I did last night, that wasn’t a set goal I had made when I worked on day two, but totally made me feel better, was that I mentally figured out what we would eat for breakfast today.  Some days they just want cold cereal.  But some days they want sausage, scrambled eggs and hot chocolate  I don’t mind making it for them, but that takes way more time than cereal! Thankfully we had some Costco muffins, so everyone decided they would eat that for breakfast.

It felt SO nice going to bed last night having these decisions already made.

During day three I set the goals to work on the “big rocks” during the morning.  I wanted to focus on reading my scriptures or a spiritual thought every morning.  When I was at the hospital with my little guy earlier this week my phone had no service. I couldn’t all out or receive calls. Most of my apps wouldn’t work either.  But I did have my scriptures downloaded so I read those.  I highlighted and copied a couple good scriptures and thoughts that night.  I love to use the Becky Higgins Project Life app and “scrapbook” these versus and then save them as my phone lock screen.  This morning I read through a couple of these.  These two have given me so much peace this week.
Today – Today is day four – and like I said I really loved today!  Today Crystal talks about how you need to take care of YOURSELF!  I think this is something that we all need to hear. This is SO true and such a timeless lesson.  We need to make sure our own lamps are full – if you are familiar with the parable of the 10 virgins.  We need to take care of ourselves to be our best selves and take care of our families.

One book that Crystal suggests at the end of the lesson is The Fringe Hours (click to see on amazon).  If you haven’t read this book I HIGHLY suggest it.  You can read my review by clicking here.

Crystal suggests that you make time for one thing for you every day.  This is why I love reading after the kids go to bed.  It is my one thing.  Reading relaxes me.  It fills my bucket.  A couple hours of quiet reading a good book just fills my soul.

What is one thing that you would do if you had time to do one thing for yourself today?
Are you taking the Make Over Your Morning Course?  How are you doing?

I’m hoping to get some great habits established before January. I want to start the next year out right!   Want to jump on the bandwagon and take this with me?  Click here for more info and get the first day free!
