Broken Things To Mend

Karey White

262 pages

Kindle edition

From the Publisher:

***This book is part of a multi-author project that features one recurring character–the match maker–but it is a STAND-ALONE novel.***

Celia is in desperate need of a change–a change of scenery, a change of pace, and a complete redo of all relationships. Not knowing what else to do, she opens a map, closes her eyes, and lets fate decide her future. Then she packs her meager belongings and buys a one-way ticket to a little town on the fringes of Oregon’s Deschutes National Forest called Sisters. She’s wanted a family for years. Will she find one in Sisters?

What Celia doesn’t plan to find is a strange Chinese woman whose meddling ways keep throwing her in the path of a handsome, but reserved, forest ranger. But no matter how kind or dependable Silas seems to be, there are some things in Celia’s past that neither of them can escape, and this time, the damage might be too much to mend.

Review:

Last November I read The Matchmaker, which was a prequel to this new series of books.  I loved The Matchmaker (you can read my review here) and I was really looking forward to seeing how this book project would turn out in 2016.

Broken Things To Mend is the first in this series, although each book can also be a stand alone novel too.

I really loved the setting of this book, it made me miss the northwest and wish I could go back!  I loved the small town setting and the characters. They were likable, and real at times, and I really liked that both characters needed saving – and how they interacted with each other.  I did think it was a bit predictable, but I was okay with that since I couldn’t see the ending go any other way.  I was surprised that the book touched on a few more serious subjects that I expected and I thought they were handled well.  Celia was a hard worker and I really loved that she seemed to have a good head on her shoulders, despite her past.

I really enjoyed this book and had a hard time putting it down.  Another book by Karey White that I’ve read and really enjoyed was My Own Mr. Darcy.  If you enjoy clean romance, then she is one that can deliver a heartwarming realistic story.  I am looking forward to more books in the Match Maker Series!
