What to Read Wednesday: Edenbrooke

February 3, 2016

It’s Wednesday again, which means it’s time for What to Read Wednesday!  This is where I give you read alike books, and five suggestions about books you might enjoy. This way everyone can grow their reading list!  If you have any books you would like me to feature on What to Read Wednesday, leave me a comment and I’ll try my best!

Since it’s February I thought I would talk about some of my favorite romance books throughout the month. This week I’m starting with one of my favorite regency romance books: Edenbrooke, by Julianne Donaldson!

what to read wednesday edenbrooke

First, let me start out by saying – if you haven’t read Edenbrooke – that is the place you must start!  Edenbrooke is one of my all time favorite regency romance books.  It’s clean, it’s adorable and it’s dreamy.  I remember seeing a friend recommend it when it came out and I made a special trip to buy it that afternoon.  This was a book I couldn’t put down and I’ve re-read it a couple times since.  Julianne Doldnaldson is kinda awesome too – and my secret idol.  Is that strange to say about someone?  I really do admire those moms who can write and publish such great clean book!  She’s a local author too – and I love supporting local.  In the spring a friend and I were able to attend a book club where she spoke and we had a great time!  You can read my post about it and see my awkward photo here.  (I hope to someday meet a famous-to-me author and take a decent photo.  It hasn’t happened yet).

If you haven’t read Edenbrooke, first read her short novella, Heir to Edenbrooke., then read Edenbrooke and then read Donaldson’s other books, Blackmoore.  You won’t regret all three.

Moving on…instead of five book suggestions this week, I am giving 5 read alike author suggestions:

Sarah M. Eden

Any book by Sarah M. Eden, I place my bets on – but if Edenbrooke hit the spot for you some of my favorites by Sarah that I think you will enjoy include the Jonquil brothers. These are not a series of books but each a stand alone book, but they all link together. Sarah recommends reading these books in this order:

The Kiss of a Stranger
Friends and Foes
Drops of Gold
As You Are

until the dawn

Elizabeth Camden

While her books are set in American and not England, these books always hit the spot for me too and her writing is something I think any Edenbrooke fan would enjoy as well.  My recent favorites have been Toward the Sunrise and Until the Dawn.  One thing I really enjoy about Camden’s books are they aren’t just fluffy romance books either – I always come away feeling like I’ve learned a little something about history too.

whispers on the moore

Sarah E. Ladd

Another great author – if you love regency romance and clean books is Sarah E. Ladd.  All her books have been top picks for me in the past.  Her Whispers on the Moor collection is one I highly recommend.  I’ve read all her books and can’t wait for her to release another one.

heart revealed

Josi Kilpack

If you are familiar with Kilpack you probably associate her with her culinary mystery books.  But last year she released two regency romance books and they are SO good!  Ones you won’t want to miss.  A Heart Revealed and Lord Fenton’s Folly.  I loved both of these and they have some real substance and depth to their stories – along with a clean romance too.

the tutors daughter

Julie Klassen

I have to admit – Klassen is one of those authors who’s books look amazing to me, but I haven’t made time to read as many of them as I would like.  She has so many books that look interesting – and I just can’t keep up!  I did read The Tutor’s Daughter a couple years ago and really loved it.  Klassen is a perfect read alike author for someone who enjoyed Edenbrooke.

Have you read Edenbrooke?

Did you love it?  Have you read any of these other books?

What would you add or take away from this list?
