From the Publisher:

How do you live out extravagant love in the everyday moments? How do you celebrate grace when your life turns out differently than the one you dreamed?

Kara Tippetts discovered how to find joy in the small moments of life. She learned how to hold tight to hope even while battling intense physical and emotional pain. And she lived out the truth that God can redeem any story.

In her final book, Kara offers gentle reflections on living and dying well. She invites us to cultivate soft hearts even when we face great disappointment. Her ideas for living are hard-won, wrestled with in the crucible of family, illness, and faith. And her constant reminder is that whether we are in the midst of dark days or mundane moments Jesus is always there, life is surprisingly beautiful, and God is forever good.

Review:

Last fall I read and fell in love with the book Just Show Up, which was written by Kara Tippetts and her friend Jill Buteyn.  It was one of those hard books to read, but one that I couldn’t put down.  (You can read my review here)  Kara tells such an amazing story of attitude and strength through her trials.  I was so impressed.  So when I saw that her publisher was releasing a new book from her I knew I would want to read it.

This book is a collection of her writings, mostly from her blog – and this was compiled and published after she had lost her battle to cancer.

And It Was Beautiful really made me stop and think about my life and what my priorities are.  We all know that we are going to die at some point, we just like to think that it will be many, many years from now.  But what if we knew?  How we would act, what would we choose to do with our time?  I saw a news article about a man who found out he had cancer and made videos of himself reading to his two small girls so they would always shave that.  Would I make a video?  Would I write letters?  We see these ideas and news articles a lot.  I really wonder what I would choose to do with my time.  And if we all know we are going to die, why don’t we just do these things, or live this way every day?

Just like Just Show Up, this is a hard book to read.  But one worth reading.  It was a challenge to me and really made me ponder and think about my priorities and the way that I live my life.  No one signs up for the struggles and trials we face in life.  But we can all choose our attitude that we have as we face them.

Another read-a-likes for this book that I have read and can recommend include Just Show Up, Undone and Heaven is Here.
