Tackle Your TBR Read-a-thon Update

September 21, 2017

Today is day 11 in the Tackle Your TBR Read-a-thon challenge. And I have to admit, it’s been refreshing to actually focus on reading for a few days! Not that I’ve ever needed an excuse to read – but this entire year it’s kinda got away from me and I’ve really struggled focusing on reading and finding the books that I enjoy.

If you don’t already, you should head over to Instagram and follow me. (myreadingspot) I’m way better at updating my progress on there (#tackeltbr)

So far these are my totals for the challenge:

Total books completed: 9

Total number of pages read: 2,801

Why can’t reading my scriptures come this easy to me?  I mean, I really try to read them every day, but I can breeze through a book in no time.  Shouldn’t I have the same attitude towards my scriptures.   I remember when we lived in Iowa, I only had two little boys at the time and they took naps at the same glorious time!  I would sit in my favorite reading spot every day during nap time and not allow myself any “fun” reading time until I had read a chapter or two in my scriptures.  I know my testimony grew so much during those months.  I need to be better at that.

Since I finished my marathon, I’ve been really enjoying time off running.  I also happened to quit my early morning job a few weeks ago, so this, combined with lack of running has given me some time during my early morning hours.  One of my FAVORITE times to read is early in the morning before everyone wakes up.  I know, this is the complete opposite of most readers.  I cannot stay up late, and I wake up no matter what. I might as well have a good book with me and read, right?

I’m at 47 books total for the year.  I was’t making 100 my goal this year, and I’m very far behind if it were, I just wanted to enjoy reading.  I might make 75.  We shall see.

How are you doing with reading this year?

Are you participating in the Tackle Your TBR Read-a-thon?  How is it going?
