2018 Goals

February 15, 2018

Better late than never, I am finally getting around to posting about the 8 goals I am setting for myself in 2018. I set these for myself in January, and I wrote them down in my planner (more on that later), but I like to post about my goals so I can be held accountable.  There has to be something said about writing down a goal and making it tangible.  A goal without a plan is just a wish, right?

I have to start off and say that this year I’m doing something a little different.  I’m setting 8 goals.  Some are normal but some are stretch goals for me.  I think it’s important to do a little of both right?  Stretch goals are SO good for me, but I also don’t want to set every single goal so high I am setting myself up for failure at the same time.

I remember when I had just had my 4th little one, (less than 18 months after having the last baby…because sometimes you are surprised with a blessing like that!) I had a pretty busy service calling in my church congregation and my husband was a busy medical resident.  My oldest was 6.  Things were fun, let me tell you! Ladies would ask me, how do you do it all?  One, I would point out…I didn’t do it all.  There is a reason that I took a break from My Reading Spot for a few years.  But two, I learned a very important thing that year.  The things that did get done, the priorities, they got done because I stretched myself and learned what I could accomplish.  Even though I didn’t think I could!  Another example: last year I finally ran my first full marathon.  I still remember the exact location I was in during my training when I finally ran over 13.1 miles for the first time.  Prior to that I never thought I could run more than a half marathon distance!  But I stretched.  And I did it!  Someday it’s about prioritizing and getting what you can get done, and sometimes it’s about stretching yourself to see just what you can accomplish!  You might surprise yourself!

So back go this year…I’ve set 8 goals for myself this year.  Some stretch, some not.  I also divide them into four categories: Spiritual, Physical, Reading and Personal

Spiritual Goals:

  1. Read the Book of Mormon personally (stretch goal: to finish the entire book as a family)

Physical Goals:

2. Finish 100 days of my running/exercise streak.

3. Run 800 miles

4. Run 4 half marathons, or 2 half marathons and one full.  WOAH…I can’t believe I even just typed that I might run one full marathon again.  But I am considering it.

Reading Goals:

5. Read 100 books

Personal Development & Business:

6. I love my Rodan and Fields business (I don’t talk about it as much as I should on here!) but I am shooting for a big one here, Level 5 by the end of the year!  This is a HUGE stretch goal for me, but it’s a good one.

7. De-clutter one area of our house a month

8.  Give back!  I want to focus on giving back this year.  I’ve already got some big things planned!

And last but not least – how am I tracking all of my goals:

It’s one thing to make goals and write them down, but I need to have a clear plan on how I’m going to track them and accomplish them.  I’m kinda a mix when it comes to planning I’m a phone/notebook/planner kinda person..sounds complicated but it really isn’t…trust me!  And seriously, I’m super excited to share it with you, but on another post!  Till then…..

Comment and share some of the goals you want to crush this year!  I can’t wait to hear them!
