From the Publisher:
Amber Marie Sterlington, the Rage of the Season in Regency-era London, has her pick of men, and she knows what she wants most in a husband: a title and a fortune. Why would she ever marry for something as fickle as love? And why would she ever look twice at Thomas Richards, a third son of a country lord?
But when Amber’s social standing is threatened, the character of her future husband becomes far more important than his position. After a public humiliation, she find herself exiled to Yorkshire. alone except for her maid, Amber is faced with a future she never expected in a circumstance far below what she has known all her life. Humbled and lonely, Amber begins to wonder if isolation is for the best. Who could ever love her now?
Review:
I was so excited to read this book! I always love a good regency romance book. The Proper Romance series are even better too, because I know they will be clean. I have read and enjoyed a lot of Kilpack’s books. Her mystery books are fun. I’ve read about half of herculinary mystery books. I really should finish those sometime (they are on my forever long to-read list). I was curious to see how this book held up to my ideals of Kilpack, I knew she could write fun mysteries, but I wasn’t sure how she would do with Regency Romance.
Amber, the main character of this book, is faced with a challenge and her family sends her off to live alone with her maid. It was interesting to think what a girl in her status would really do if she was faced with the same situation. I am sure it would be a sink or swim situation, just like in the book. I thought that the book did a good job of showing the transformation that Amber went through. At first she was pretty stuck up and spoiled, but by the end of the book she was kind and strong and had a good character.
I received an advanced electronic copy of this book to read on Net Galley. I loved it, I would love to add a hard copy book to my library too. It’s really a great book that I could read and re-read again.
The plot kept me thinking and held my interest. It was a book that I had a hard time putting down. It’s an all-nighter kinda book if you are an all-night reader. I totally woke up way early and finished it, I love to read in the morning. All you midnight readers are crazy, I can’t keep my eyes open no matter how good the book is. Anyway, I The love story was sweet and slow, but not too slow. I think you love EdenBrooke, Blackmoore, or anything by Sarah M. Eden you should really check this book out.
Thanks to Shadow Mountain Publisher, I have TWO copies of the book to give away! Two winners this time!
In the book, Amber is exiled by her family to live in Yorkshire. To make things fun – leave a comment with the answer to this questions – If you were exiled, what is one thing you would take with you?
I’ll announce the winner this weekend!
Happy Tuesday!
