What I’ve Been Reading: February

March 13, 2019

I kinda started the month of February out a little worried I wouldn’t be reading a lot because we had so much going on, but in the end I finished 10 books and I really did enjoy a lot of them, so it was hard to narrow it down to just a few for this post. You can always keep up with what I read day to day on my Instagram. Below are a couple mini reviews of some of the books I read last month.

The Tattooist of Auschwitz by Heather Morris was one of my top favorites from the month. I’ve tried this book before and put it down, but thank goodness for second chances because this time I picked it up and finished it in 24 hours. Warning – there are some graphic scenes and there is some language. But it’s based off a true life story, and knowing that made it SO much more interesting to me. I don’t fully agree with some of the actions that Lale made – but I’ve never lived through what he has!

These are two new releases that came out last month that I was super excited for. I really loved The Lost Castle by Kristy Cambron, but was a little disappointed in book two, Castle on the Rise. I think I just had high expectations. Still a good book and I still love Kristy Cambron. And another great book from Elizabeth Camden! A Desperate Hope is the third book in her Empire State series, each book can be read on it’s own, but there are characters that connect all together. I loved this one – a little adventure, mystery, and romance. Perfect!

A Different Blue by Amy Harmon was the book club book for February. Oh yeah, I joined a book club. But I am the worst at actually going so I really just like getting the text messages about it and the book suggestions. Maybe one of these nights I will actually get my bum in gear and get there too. Anyway – this book was totally interesting to think about! I enjoyed it – it did have a little language if you are sensitive to that. Another bonus: it’s free if you have Kindle Unlimited. I haven’t read anything by Harmon before, but I would love to read another book from her again. Has anyone else read any of her other books? Give me a suggestion!

Escape to Everly Manor by Chalon Linton was another new release I was super excited about in February! Linton is one of my new favorite authors and I really enjoy her other books, A Tangled Romance and An Inconvenient Romance. Such fun books. I loved that story line of Everly Manor, on the run from an abusive uncle, Lizzy and her brother find an abandoned cabin where they met our hero, Mr. Barton. Such a fun nice story. Super clean and fun to read.

Debbi Coder and Wendi Green are some top leaders in my Rodan+Fields team and while I don’t talk about that little side business very often, I do really love the business and the products and I love learning how I can do a better job with it too…combine that with a book about it and you’ve got me! Listen Sister was easy to read and I really loved the list of suggestions and challenges in the back more than anything. (the cover isn’t my favorite, but really that’s unrelated and just me!)

And last, but not least, I loved these fun little novellas that I found at the end of the month. They are part of the Forever After Retelling series. Each is a retelling of a fairy tale and can be read in any order. These are all novellas – and easy to read in one sitting – like 100 pages or under! Plus a lot of these are new authors (at least to me) so it gives me more authors to follow!
