I found a book by Diaz at the library one week and decided to give it a try, I really enjoyed it (I posted about it yetserday). In that book, she references this book, so I thought I would look this one up and give it a try.
I enjoyed reading this book. It was fascinating and easy to read. I enjoyed hearing from both Claire’s point of view and Sammy’s. (The chapters alternate). Sammy’s chapters really opened my eyes. This book really made me think about what little things and little decisions we make can have big consequences on our life and others.
I was hoping this book would have more about the running and the marathon that the children in the orphanage ran. I also would have liked more depth to the chapters when he comes to American and the years he spent in school here.
Overall I enjoyed it, I am glad I read it. I would love to know where Sammy is now and how his life continues.
