Thanksgiving Books  {some great lists and some of my favorites!}

November 21, 2015

It’s that time of year that I tend to get a little ahead of myself and focus on Christmas books. But there are a lot of great Thanksgiving books too!  And it’s not too late head to your local library (or get two day delivery on Amazon) and find a couple of these great books. Here are a couple of my favorite lists from around the web and some of our family favorites as well!

And last, but not least – Five our our own personal favorite Thanksgiving Books.  These babies are tried and true books and always hits around our house this time of year.

Theo’s Thanksgiving:  My mom brought this to us one year when we lived in Iowa and had just had our second baby.  It’s been a hit with all the kids and they can quote it word for word!

The Berenstain Bears Count Their Blessings:  This one is a great one for any time of year, but always a great reminder right now.  We always love the Bear Family books and their lessons (plus my kids love this book because it reminds them how to find out how far away a lighting storm really is)

Pinkalicious: Thanksgiving Helper: _With two little girls any book about Pinkalicious is always hit at our house.  The boys have even been known to sit and listen too.

Junie B. Jones #28: Turkeys We Have Loved and Eaten: My boys and girls have all thought Junie B. books are funny.  Especially during first and second grade when they are just getting into chapter books.  This doesn’t disappoint and makes them laugh out loud!

Magic Tree House #27: Thanksgiving on Thursday: And another beginning chapter book that they all have loved – boys and girls.  Magic Tree House books are always a hit and are books they read and re-read often. I love that there are real facts mixed in with fiction too.

Do you have any family favorite Thanksgiving books?  I would love to hear your suggestions!
