I realized I haven’t done a Weekly Wrap Up in a while. Most likely because I really didn’t have much running going on in November. It was pretty sad, but it just didn’t happen. Our family life just got too complicated with kids sick and hospital visits and running fell between the cracks. I did read a lot of book in November though – so that is the good news. Now I just need to post all the reviews! I do have some really great one’s scheduled this week….I can’t wait!
The week of Thanksgiving I committed to do the RW Run Streak. The first couple days proved to be a huge challenge. We were in Washington visiting my parents and I bought warmer running clothes and it ended up being super cold there. I was not prepared! I did walk a lot more and at least tried to meet my step goal each day.
Now that I’m home and reunited with my treadmill, it’s been a little easier to make sure I get at least one mile in each day. I wasn’t sure I would enjoy a running streak, but I have found it might be good training. When I’m only running one or two miles I tend to really kick the treadmill up and try and push myself faster. This reminds me of some of the information I learned from the book Run Less Run Faster (click for review) – and I’m looking forward to seeing if it helps.
Saturday morning I did 10 miles on the treadmill. It’s been a SUPER long time since I’ve had a good long run. And I was a little nervous, but it felt SO good when I was done. I had a cute visitor who woke up early Saturday come and talk to me the last couple miles. My treadmill is located in my mother in law’s old beauty shop in case you were wondering…the kids LOVE the old school beauty shop chair! It was fun to turn off my show and chat with my 9 year old for a while. He had some funny jokes and told me all about school and quizzed me on 3rd grade math problems.
I finished the week off with a total of 21.3 miles.
The rest of the weekend was pretty low key. My 6 year old was sick so I stayed home from a Christmas party and we watched a lot of movies. Sunday when she was feeling a little better we spent a good amount of time reading together. She is really loving Junie B. Jones books right now. (She is currently reading this one and giggling a lot!)
My goals for this upcoming week are to:
1. Run every day for the running streak
2. Read 3 books (post a couple fun reviews too!)
3. Complete the Make Over Your Mornings Course!
