Yesterday was my birthday! I unplugged from blogging and had a fantastic, relaxing day with my family. My husband and kids spoiled me with cute hand made cards and some new running gear (more on that later). I asked my kids for one thing – and they delivered – they worked really hard at not fighting all day! We finished the night off by stuffing ourselves at Texas Roadhouse – and My Fitness Pal journal for the day is pretty sad. It’s a super good thing I don’t eat like that every day! Oiy!
Monday my best friend surprised me with the most amazing gift – a book quilt! This is a bad picture, we were out at brunch, but I had to grab a picture to share – and I wish you could see it all in person, because this quilt is amazing! I love it. She even personalized one of the books and embroidered My Reading Spot on the spine. Since we got some cold weather this week too (boo!!) this quilt has been PERFECT! I spent all afternoon yesterday wrapped up in it reading a good book.
If you’ve been following my blog this month, you know it’s been Birthday Month! So far I’ve shared some of my favorite books, and my favorite bracelet so I thought for my next giveaway it would be fun to share some of my favorite running gear! But it is SO hard to narrow this category down!
Let me start with my Flip Belt. I don’t ever run outside without it! This belt is easy to wear and can carry anything! I’ve upgraded my phone since buying it and thanks to the stretchy material it still fits! Super easy. Another trick – sometimes I wear skirts a lot in the summer, and they don’t have pockets but I still like to have one, so I slip this on under my shirt and no one knows! It’s perfect for a run, or any time you just need a pocket too!
Have you ever tried one of these? Do you love it?
I know there are a lot of fancy workout lines out there – but I don’t always want to spend a fortune on clothes that I just end up sweating in and end up being gross. Am I the only one that feels this way? I try really hard to find good quality for a good price. These workout crops from Old Navy are hands down my favorite. They are seriously so soft and I have run 3 of the 4 half marathons wearing them last year. They fit perfectly and are a little bit thicker too. I once picked out the cutest pair of workout pants that I loved and thought were so cute until my husband told me that they were almost see through! oops! No one wants that! I also am addicted to C9 Champion shirts from Target. The purple shirt I am wearing above is from Target. I also really really love the short sleeve v-neck shirts they have too. (click here for the link) I have a couple and for the price you can’t go wrong. I’m a big C9 and Target fan.
What is your favorite brand of workout clothes?
This next one isn’t necessarily “running gear” but I use it after every run…and if you know me in real life, you might already know this – but I really have a problem: I really have a thing for cups. I LOVE cups. (This sounds so silly to admit!) I always carry a water bottle with me – and sometimes on Saturdays after my long runs I look a little crazy; I have a Blender Bottle for a protein shake, a cup of water and a cup of diet coke. I have a couple different Blender Bottles because they come in so many different colors, and I love them all. They are great for protein shakes as well as just getting in my water for the day too.
Do you have a Blender Bottle? Do you carry a drink with you all the time?
My Garmins! I love my Garmin VivoFit and my Garmin Forerunner 10. You can read some of my earlier posts about them here and here. I did a little experiment a few weeks ago and wore a fitbit for a day too. I was so curious to see if there would be any difference – I have a post about this coming up later this week.
Are you a Fitbit or Garmin fan?
One of my favorite books about running – Run Like a Mother. When I started running I read a lot of books, but a lot were geared towards people who had been running for along time and I was just a beginner. This was helpful and motivational to me and really made me feel like I could do it!
Have a good running book for beginners? I would love to hear!
And this is a new one – but I recently got these wireless headphones to review. I am in love with them and the idea! I had never gone wireless before because of the cost. Wireless headphones can be so pricey! This pair by 1byone is a really good price.
I really like that they came with a lot of different size attachments and they were super easy to change and adjust to what I needed. My husband had been using them too and we need different sizes – so this is super important to me. If I have to fidgit with it forever every time I want to use them after him I will just never do it. I’ve run a couple runs with them and they work great, I haven’t experienced them moving out or slipping. I also used them a couple morning since I got them to turn on my audio books while I cleaned. So much easier than carrying my phone with me every single place and watching out for the cords on my old ear buds.
Do you have wireless headphones? I can’t believe that I haven’t ever tried them until now!
These are just a few of my favorites – I have SO many that I could tell you about – my favorite socks, my favorite running energy gel, my favorite shoes. I’ll have to save a couple of these for later posts….I really could go on an on!
I really wish I could share all of these things, wouldn’t that be super fun! But seriously, I can’t…so I had to pick just one.
Enter below for your chance to win one of my favorites – a Blender Bottle! Fill out the Rafflecopter below and/or leave a comment and share with your friends to make this more fun! The giveaway will end Sunday night and I’ll announce a winner next week. Good luck!
