I haven’t posted much about running lately. As I sat down this morning I realized I haven’t even posted my race recap from my last half marathon either! Oops! Sorry guys…I’ll work on that. But first, I have to share with you a race that is coming up that is really important to me.
The Rescue Run 5K.
This is important, heavy stuff. Not my normal post, but one that needs to be heard. Child sex trafficking. As a mom to five kids, I can’t imagine my children being put in this situation. It just makes me sick to think about. Sick. But it happens. It happens every day all around us. And recently, on facebook, it’s been brought up that this is happening in Utah County. Our own backyard. That is a little too close for comfort, if you ask me.
The goal of the Rescue Run is to raise money to help rescue children currently held against their will in child sex trafficking. Operation Underground Railroad, which has already saved over 419 victims of trafficking in just two years, will be the recipient of all the funds raised by the event. Isn’t that awesome! All the funds raised by the event
The race is local (Lehi, Utah) and looking at the course map, this should be a pretty easy flat course! So anyone can do it, you don’t have to run it, you can always walk.
But here is the other really cool deal…you don’t have to run this race to help. My husband and I decided to help sponsor this event through his office. We really believe in supporting this cause. I also donated a couple race registrations too because I thought this would be a fun one to race. But then guess what happened? We got some dates mixed up for a family trip – and we aren’t even going to be here that weekend. You don’t have to at the race to help! You don’t have to be local. Just head over to the race page (found here) and click on the donate directly button. Easy-Peasy!
No, this is NOT a sponsored post. I am not affiliated with the race at all. I just believe in supporting this cause through my blog and my husband’s office. We need to help save these children.

Another way you can help end this horrible crime is attend and support the Abolitionist movie. You can watch the trailer below. This is EYE-OPENING. This will only be shown on May 16, unless it does well on opening night. You can help support this movie by finding a theater closest to you: http://www.fathomevents.com/event/the-abolitionists/buy
You might not be local to me – you might not be able to run in this 5K, but this movie is being shown all over the country.
All proceeds from the movie will go towards O.U.R..
President Russell M. Nelson (a leader in my church) said, “We need women who know how to make important things happen by their faith and who are courageous defenders of morality and families in a sin-sick world.”
We need to make a fight.
We need to do all that we can do to help.
We need to take action.
Every little bit helps.
Run, walk or crawl the Rescue Run 5K. 😉
Watch the movie.
Or donate to the cause.
Stand up.
Make a difference.
