Phew! Summer is officially here now and hopefully I can catch my breath. April and May are always super busy. We have all been looking forward to some lazy months full of swimming, reading and playing outside.
Before we get too far ahead of ourselves I want to share with you a few of my favorite books that I’ve been reading the past few months. My goal is to read 100 books this year and as of yesterday I’m halfway there! I decided a few years ago not to blog about every single book that I read, but just share a few of my favorites. Here we go…
I’ve been on a personal development and non fiction kick lately and Jim Larsen is awesome! He is a leader in my Rodan and Fields side gig and I love when I get to hear/watch training from him. So when I heard him talk about a book I knew I would want to read it too. And while I was introduced to him through R+F, you certainly don’t have to be in business with me, or any type of business to relate to this book. Larsen just wants us to become the best we can be! Have you heard of Larsen? If you haven’t check out this book or even look up some of his amazing training videos of YouTube!
Worth the Risk, Heather B. Moore
Every once in a while I just need a good fiction book to sweep me away. Something fun and light and something I don’t have to worry or stress about. Just like this! I found this book on kindle unlimited and it’s part of a series, so there are even a couple more bonus points in it’s favor! I haven’t read the next book in the series, but I did really love this one. Just right for an easy summer read. What are some of your go-to authors and books when you need a fun light book to read?
Courage to be You, Gail Miller
I had been seeing this book on display at the bookstore this spring and was intrigued, but then a fellow instagrammer account, simplisisters used it for their book club in May and I decided to join the fun. I found so many quotes that I loved! The book was short and sweet and could easily be read in one sitting, but instead I divided it up and read it slowly all month. This book would make an excellent little gift too! I would love to hear some of your favorite parts if you’ve read it too! One of my favorite quotes:
“God doesn’t want His sons and daughters trying to wedge into someone else’s place. We need to find our own. The best way we can do that is by staying faithful, by being ourselves.” -Gail Miller
I haven’t read all of Picoult’s books, but the ones that I have read I have really liked and Leaving Time was no different. The funny thing is sometimes it just depends on my mood. I have downloaded the sample to this book a couple times on my kindle and never really got that into the book, but finding it at the library and having a hard copy in hand must have really made the difference, because this time around I couldn’t put it down. Bonus – I learned a lot about elephants in this book too – more than I never wanted or thought I needed to know! The twist at the end I didn’t see coming at all and not exactly how I wished the ending of the book would have gone, but it didn’t ruin it for me, just gave me more to think about! Have you read it? What book by Picoult should I read next?
Girl, Wash Your Face, Rachel Hollis Every once in a while I just want to listen to a good audible book. May was so busy I was driving here and there and everywhere so I downloaded a couple books to my audible app and listened! I’ve read and listened to this book and both versions are good. You can get so many take-aways from this book! I have a hard time narrowing it down! If you have a book club that is interested in non-fiction I think this would be a good selection too.
I mean really – I had SUCH a hard time narrowing it down to one, because there is that really awesome quote about Taco Bell too….but this quote – it really can’t get any better than that, right? I would love to know if you’ve read this book and what you thought – or better yet, if you want to read it with me I would be down with that! I this I could reread this one again and again!

There you have it! A few of my favorites from the past couple months. Have you read any of these? What have you been reading?
